Our Origin Story

On a bright Saturday morning in April 2014, a group of pharmacy students from the Rwanda Pharmacy Students Association (RPSA) gathered at “Cascade,” a cozy coffee and resto-bar in Huye, Rwanda. This wasn’t just a casual meet-up—it was a full-day retreat to reimagine their association’s future.

Their mission was clear: to create a five-year roadmap for transformative leadership. Fueled by ambition and a shared passion for progress, they dared to dream boldly, challenge conventions, and envision an association that would elevate the pharmacy profession and inspire change far beyond their field.

As discussions flowed, "Cascade" became more than a venue—it transformed into a symbol of their aspirations. Like the seamless flow of cascading water, they hoped their efforts would ripple outward, touching peers, communities, and entire industries.

The ideas born that day ignited a journey of action. Implementing those ideas during their university years brought opportunities they could never have imagined—exposure, hands-on experience, and a foundation for thriving professional lives.

A decade later, those students are leaders, shaping policies, driving industries, and influencing lives on global platforms. They look back at that day at Cascade as the spark that set their remarkable journeys in motion—a moment that defined their paths and fueled their growth.

Today, "Cascade" has evolved from a meeting place into an organization dedicated to creating similar transformative moments for others. Through programs, platforms, and initiatives, Cascade empowers young people to dream boldly, expand their horizons, and realize their full potential.
